SHENANDOAH COUNTY CHURCH RECORDS OF BIRTHS
1786-1827

Zion-Pine Church, Shenandoah County

Thanks to Jane Hunter Hodgson for the use of her church photo!

Information given includes the name of the child, followed by birth date, followed by parents.

If you are new at research and looking for Ludwig, you will do well to look at every "L" entry as this name is spelled many ways. The same goes for Emswiller, Dodson, and others. It is quite interesting to see the variations in spelling.

There are aproximately 250 births recorded here. Where the birth date is missing, baptismal date is included.

The use of the German language for recordings was discontinued in 1827. These were not necessarily the spellings of the parents. Entries were made by the minister, lay members and sometimes by a clerk.

As always, use this information as clues, not as facts. Anyone can make errors in recordings.

Thanks to Barbara Blackwell Locker, we now have more birth records from Lutheran Zion-Pine Church. Barbara typed all of the records in Part One.
