Barbara Jones Poux (1940-2011)

Barbara Jones PouxBarbara Jones Poux, 70, of Middletown, Virginia, died on June 9 in her home near the Blue Ridge Mountains.

Born on November 11, 1940 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of Deacon and Betty Jones.

Barbara graduated from Edinboro College, Edinboro, Pennsylvania in 1962. She held many jobs from English teacher at McDowell High School in Erie, Pennsylvania to office administrator of Selove Professional Counseling in Stephens City, Virginia. Her best and most rewarding job was raising two daughters.

Barbara was a loving mother, avid gardener, voracious reader, dedicated community volunteer, thoughtful listener, devoted advocate for the disadvantaged and gracious hostess to all family and friends invited to visit.

Barbara is survived by her two daughters and their husbands, Marla and James Nix of Silver Spring, Maryland, and Susan and Vinicio Espinoza of Washington, D.C.; her four grandchildren, Zoe and Ben Nix of Silver Spring and Rio and Sky Espinoza of Washington D.C.; her parents, Deacon and Betty Jones of Erie, Pennsylvania; her four siblings, Davey Jones and his wife Fely of Erie, Pennsylvania, Doug Jones of Erie, Pennsylvania, Betsy Eisbart and her husband Robert of White Marsh, Maryland, and Barrie Nolan and her husband Tom of Erie, Pennsylvania; as well as her many nieces and nephews and their children.

Her husband, John Poux, precedes her in death.

Family and friends are invited to a memorial service to celebrate and honor Barbara's life at the Ramada Inn, Strasburg, 35 Brandy Court, Strasburg, Virginia at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 2nd. The burial will be a private service.
