Death of Mr. Philip Empsweller.

Mr. Philip Empsweller after an illness of several weeks died at the home of his son-in-law, Mr. Jacob Fitzwaters near Timberville, Va., March 1 {1902}; aged 85 years and 26 days. His wife died 20 years ago. He was a member of the German Baptist church for many years, and his funeral services were conducted by Elder . F. Driver at Linville Creek church.

Mr. Empsweller was a tanner by occupation, and was a reliable man in his "walk and conduct." So far as we can learn, he was the oldest man at the time of his death about Timberville and quite active for his age. Years ago, he was employed by the late Mr. John Speaker at his tannery in this place.
