Death of Mrs. Lillian L. Good

After bravely struggling against disease for over two months, Mrs. Lillian L. Good departed this life at her home, several miles southeast of Mt. Jackson, Va., Sunday morning, June 20, 1909, at half past twelve o’clock; aged 45 years, 8 months, and 28 days. She attended the funeral of Mrs. Jessie H. Rupert in New Market, March 17, when she was taken sick and soon became confined to her room. Death was due to an aggravated case of stomach trouble. Her funeral took place from Cedar Grove church of the Brethren, of which she was a member, on Monday morning. Elder Carson Miller, assisted by Elder Benjamin Neff, conducted the services which were very largely attended.

The pall-bearers were Messrs. Milton Gouchenour, William Newland, Frank Kingree, David Beaver, Carl Woods and Noah Wampler.

Mrs. Good was formerly Miss Lillian Lee Moore, daughter of the late Reuben and Amanda Moore, nee Sigler, and was born near Mt. Jackson, Sept. 22, 1863. She lived with her aunt, Miss Matilda Moore, near Mt. Airy, about three miles southeast of Mt. Jackson. On Nov. 13, 1888, she married Mr. David B. Good, of the same neighborhood, son of the late Elder Michael Good. To them were born three sons: John M., Robert M., and David B. Good. Their father died Feb. 8, 1894, and his son, Robert M., June 9, 1908. She is survived by two sons, a sister Mrs. L.A. Sampselle, who has been with her for several weeks, and other relatives.

Mrs. Good was an excellent woman in all life’s relations an especially faithful and devoted mother to her children, by whom she will be sadly missed. A good neighbor, a kind friend "one who lived a life of usefulness" has passed away.

The following from a distance were present at the funeral; Mr. and Mrs. L.A. Sampselle (sister), Williamson, W.Va.; Mr. and Mrs. D.S. Rhodes (sister-in-law), and daughter, and Mrs. Raleigh Rhodes, of Broadway; Mrs. Mary Wampler, Penn Laird; Mr. I.C. Sanger, Edom; Mrs. Susan Silvius, who is visiting in this section, of Alberta, Canada, and others.

Mrs. Fannie Flemings, who has been with the Good family for eight years "a fine housekeeper" will continue in the household.
