Departed this life, April 17, 1874, in New Market, Va., Miss Julia Emma Gochenour, of Tennessee, aged 16 years and 1 month.

About the middle of January Julia came into our village an entire stranger, yet in three short months she made many warm friends, who shed the bitter tear of sorrow when by death she was taken from us. She was intelligent, sociable, affable, modest, attractive; so much so that all who came in contact with her were filled with admiration. She came---was loved---is gone--not to her native State and kindred at home, but to the land of spirits, from which she will return to us no more. On her death-bed she was "Baptized into Christ," and we hope that, being absent from the body, she is with the Lord.
