Miss Emily Gorley, departed this life at her home, New Market, Va., June 15, 1901.

She was born May 31, 1867, and was aged 34 years and 14 days. The immediate cause of death was consumption. The illness dates from the first of the year. In early life she was baptized and later confirmed to Emmanuel Lutheran church of which she was a life long member. She was regular in her attendance upon worship and endeavored to promote the welfare of the church. she was kind and gentle, a good neighbor and friend. She will be missed. To mourn her departure, she leaves four brothers and a large circle of relatives and friends.

The body was laid away in Emmanuel churchyard on Sunday afternoon in the presence of a large number of friends and acquaintances. The funeral was conducted by her pastor, Rev. E. H. Kohn, "Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord."
