Christian Whitmire was born January 23, 1816 and died at his home in Timberville, VA., March 14, 1900; aged 84 years, 1 month, and 21 days.

The deceased attained a good old age. He was growing feeble for sometime. He was married twice. His wife, six children, two brothers and other relatives survive him. His friends were many. On Feb. 17, 1896, he was properly baptized, and confirmed in the Lutheran church. We believe he remained firm unto the end and hence we trust, he enjoys the happiness of that inheritance which is incorruptible, undefiled and that fadeth not away. His funeral was preached by his pastor the writer of this notice.
