Death of Mr. Albert G. Keyes

On Tuesday, Jan. 22, 1901, after a long illness, Mr. Albert G. Keyes (born Nov. 15, 1821) died at his home, Lilly chapel, Madison county, Ohio, in the 80th year of his age. He was paralyzed several years ago, and more recently had several other strokes. Mr. Keyes was born in this vicinity, and Feb. 11, 1848, he married Miss Elizabeth V. Kagey, of near this place " sister of Misses Mary and Sallie Kagey and Mr. D.F. Kagey, of this place, and Mrs. Geo. W. Rosenberger, living four miles southeast of New Market.

Right after the war, Mr. and Mrs. Keyes moved to Ohio, where they have since resided. To them were born two daughters " the oldest married and living in Ohio, and the youngest, Mary F., died at the age of 3 ½ years " and six sons, two married and two single, living in Ohio, one married, in Luray, Val, and one, Mr. F. Eugene Keyes, well known to our people, among whom he lived for a number of years, in New York.

Mr. Keyes was a brother of Mrs. Barbara (crossed out and written above is "Matilda") Gouchenour, who died at her home in Quicksburg, Va.,. July 11, 1900, and has not been in Virginia since he went to Ohio. His wife was in New Market at the seventh Kagey reunion, Sept. 5 and 6, 1889.

The deceased was a consistent member of the Methodist church, and was generally beloved and respected, and his death, though not unexpected, comes as a shock and sad bereavement to kindred and friends.
