Mr. Mowery was born December 3, 1857, and was in the eighty-first year of his age. He was born and lived his entire life at the home in which he died. He was the son of Ephraim and Mary Jane Boehm Mowrey. His father was taken ill while in the Confederate Army of the Civil War at Elmira, New York, where he died and was buried in 1865. The deceased had two sisters, both of whom died in infancy.

On February 26, 1884, he was married to Miss Emma Lineburg, who preceded him in death, April 18, 1925. He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Mary Effie Stickley, and two granddaughters, Tilmer and Iola Stickley.

He became a member of Shiloh United Brethren in Christ Church on November 15, 1907. He was a consistent and active worker in his church until the declining years of his life. He served as superintendent of the Sunday School for a number of years, and was a member of the Board of Stewards and a trustee of the church. He did much toward the remodeling and building of the new church at Shiloh in 1915.

Funeral services will be held from the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Milton D. Stickley, near Strasburg, this afternoon at 3:00 o'clock followed by services from Shiloh U. B. C. Church at 3:30 o'clock, conducted by the pastor, the Reverend A. C. Moon of Tom's Brook.
