Helms Cemetery
near Strasburg

Directions: Single grave, from Strasburg, take Rt. 11 northeast for 1 1/8 miles to the last house on left of Rt. 11 before crossing Cedar Creek. The grave is about 100 feet north of the house. Another 200 yards northeast of the house on the west side of Rt. 11 and just north of Cedar Creek is the site of Civil War monument. These directions are from Borden's lists published in 1984, some things may have changed since that time.


Helms, John; n.d. - Oct. 19, 1864; Inscription reads "John Helms, C.S.A., of Atlanta, was killed 19 Oct 1864 in the battle of Cedar Creek"
Monument to 128th Regiment New York State Volunteer Infantry. In memory of the men of this Regiment who lost their lives at the Battle of Cedar Creek 19 Oct 1864. Erected by their Comrades and Friends and Dedicated in 1907.
