Rye Cove Tornado May 2, 1929 a tornado struck the Rye Cove School building at 1:55 pm. One teacher and twelve pupils lost their lives. A bronze tablet was erected at the new school named The Rye Cove Memorial High School. The tablet reads as follows; Rye Cove Memorial High School is erected to the memort of the children who lost their lives when the school house was destroyed by a tornado on May 2, 1929.
