QRYTEXT: Looking for RUSSELL County, VA information concerning marriage (about 1855-1860) of James A. Eads and Rebecca Felts (numberous spellings of both surnames). Also looking for birth and death record for Rebecca who reportedly died (possibly during birth of second daughter Letha Louisa Eads) in 1861. The 1860 Census shows them in Grayson County, but the trail grows cold there until James remarried in Bell County, KY about 1867. If you can help with any of this, I would appreciate it

QRYTEXT: Help! I am looking for my gggrandfather and gggrandmother and I am having no luck. They lived in Russel county, I am not sure if they were born in Russell county though. My gggrandfather's name was Lemuel Osborne. My gggrandmothers name was Edith Bishop. They had only one son together my ggranfather George Washington Osborne. We are not sure if Lemuel and Edith were married or not but we believe so. George was raised by his mother and his step-father Jake Chapman. He had several half brothers and sister on the Chapman side, Charle, Tom, Paul, Henry, and Rose Chapman. He also had at least one half brother on his fathers side Robert Osborne. We know he went by Chapman while growing up and later changed his name when he married Climie Tine Casey. George was born in Russell County. I would be very greatful for any help

NAME: Edward Ray
EMAIL: undertheknife@yahoo.com

QRYTEXT: I am looking for any info on the "Sarah RAY" that appears in the Russell County (Federal) censuses of 1850 and 1860, living next door to Peter RAY and Nancy BAUGH. Peter and Nancy are my GGGgrandparents and I am curious to see if this older woman is related (aunt, mother, etc). Sarah may have been widowed or divorced, as she lives with a man by the name of Robert Johnson in 1850 then takes his surname in the 1860 census. There is also a boy, Stephen RAY, old enough to be a cousin or sibling of Peter RAY, who lives as a farm hand/laborer with other families (within the same town) in both 1850 and 1860. These 3 groups are the only RAY families/individuals in Hansonville, Russell Co, VA at the time, according to the census. The other Russell Co RAY families (shown to be descendants of Benjamin RAY from NC) do not appear to be directly related by my research. I have second-hand info from Carl Ray that says Peter RAY's parents were Reason "Rezin" RAY (seen on 1820 census) and a "Mary" RAY. I am curious as to whether Sarah may actually be his mother. There is info on a "Rezin RAY" that married a "Sarah WALTERS" in MD or KY and moved to IL between 1820 and 1830 with five children. He later divorced and remarried. Any ideas/info on Reason (Rezin), Sarah or Stephen RAY and a possible link to Peter RAY would be greatly appreciated

QRYTEXT: I am seeking help on my maternal line. My grandfather, ESTILL GRIFFITH, was born ~1913 near Meta, Pike County, Kentucky. He was married to a WHEELER and was a Captain in the Ashland Fire Dept. He always said the family was Welsh. His father JOHN WILSON GRIFFITH, was born ~1886 there as well (to the best of my knowledge) and married a SALYER or SALYERS. He lived in John's Creek. His father, GEORGE GRIFFITH was most likely born ~1829 in Russell County, VA or Floyd/Pike County, KY, married first a BLACKBURN then later a FRANCESCO or CESCO. He lived in John's Creek. George apparently used GRIFFEE, GRIFFY, & GRIFFEY for his last name as well. I believe that George's father was a JOHN GRIFFITH, based on a marriage record that I have for George. He may have live in Floyd County, KY

QRYTEXT: I'm looking for information on Joel B. Adams, b. Abt 1810. My great-grand uncle, Bill, who would have been Joel Adams' grandson, always told us his grandfather came from Wise, Virginia, which would have been in Russell County at that time. He claimed that Joel was married to a Native American girl, but her family didn't approve and chased Joel out of Virginia into Kentucky, where he remarried and had more children. Joel can be found in the 1870 Kentucky Census living in Johnson County. According to the census, Joel was born in Virginia, and both his parents were born in North Carolina. Joel was married to Annie Davis and they had 3 children. According to the census, Joel's oldest son, James Henry Adams, was 5 in 1870 and born in Kentucky. Joel Adams is not listed in the 1850 census, so he must have come to Johnson county, Kentucky between 1850 and 1865
