All of the information I have as to dates of birth and death are from social security records so I am not sure if they are accurate. In the summer of 1998 I was traveling through
Russell County and stopped in Honaker at a Convenience store and spoke to an older lady who
worked there about anyone named Stump as this is just a short distance from Swordscreek and she
told me she was raised there and knew Gertrude and of several others but I did not get her
name. My grandmother told my mother they also used the name Honaker and it appears on my mothers birth record as my grandmothers maiden name (we have yet to figure this out as she passed away in 1998.) I would appreciate any information on these relatives or their descendants.

County, VA. It shares some striking coincidences with the family I am working on. I have been
looking for quite some time for Samuel Gipson/Gibson, b. abt. 1855, VA who married Caroline
Fultz and moved to the Knott/Floyd Co., KY area. A birth record of one of their children says
that Samuel is from Scott County, VA (adjacent to Russell Co.). Samuel and Caroline's first son
was named John P. Gibson. Also, they had a daughter named Sarah.

QRYTEXT: I've recently heard from Michael Fields, a retired school administrator who lives in
Coal Grove, Lawrence County, Ohio. He confirmed that his and my FIELDS line descended from
Crabtree Fields b. 1800 Russell Co., VA and Hannah Belcher b. abt 1806 in VA who had 11
children. Their first child, James Cummings Fields b 1831 VA was the ggggrandfather of Michael
Fields mentioned above. Hannah and Crabtree Fields were probably married about 1826 in VA where
their first 5 children were born. Then the family moved about 1836 to Lawrence County, Ohio.
Their 9th child was William Russell Fields b. 1845 in Lawrence Co., Ohio, my husband's
gggrandfather, who married 18 Apr 1866 Mary Delawder in Lawrence County, Ohio.
The other children born to Crabtree and Hannah Belcher Fields were: Jesse H. Fields b.1831 VA; Isaac Fields b.1823 VA; Elizabeth Fields b.1833 VA; Richard Fields b.1835 VA; Hannah Fields b.1837 OH; Rachel Fields b.1839 OH; Jeramiah Fields b.1840 OH; Martha Fields b.1846 OH; Ezekiel Burdine Fields b.?abt 1850 OH.
I had previously noticed the following FIELDS in the LDS Ancestral file: Squire Fields was born 1775 Washington, Co.,VA to parents Richard (b. abt. 1749 Augusta VA) and Hannah Crabtree Fields who both died in Russell County, Virginia. The LDS file says that Squire Fields had two wives, Huldah and Sarah and that he died 1850/ 1854 Hawkins, Tenn and was buried in the Fields Cemetery, Scott County, Virginia. It also says Squire Fields had a brother named "Crabtree Fields" who was b. 1777 VA and his youngest brother was Ezekiel B. Fields b. 1800 Russell Co., Virginia. Maybe these were related to my husband's line.
I thought it was interesting that my Crabtree (b. 1800) & Hannah Belcher Fields named their youngest child Ezekiel Burdine Fields b. abt 1850(?) in Ohio.
It is through Michael Fields -email mefields@webtv.net and his generously shared researched that I learned of my husband's Fields roots in Russell county, Virginia. Now, since I live in Richmond, Virginia, I can pursue any leads fairly easily. Anxously awaiting your replies!
