In the name of God, Amen. I Michael Sword of the County of Russell and State of Virginia being very old and weak in body but of sound mind and disposing memory (for which I thank God) and calling to mind the uncertainty of human life, and being desirous to dispose of all such wordly estate as it hath pleased God to bless me with; - and heretofore portioned off all my children, except Michael Sword my youngest son, & youngest child; I therefore in consideration of the love and affection which_have and bear to my said son Michael, and for the further consideration, that he the said Michael my son, has supported me, and taken care of me for the last twelve years past, during all which time I was not able to support and take care of myself:

1st, I therefore give to the said Michael Sword my son all my tact of land on which I now live, (which contains 150 acres be the same either more or less) to him, the said Michael my son, and to his heirs forever: 2nd, I also give to my son Michael Sword, aforesaid (after my decease,) and to his heirs forever all my personal estate of every description: - that is, after my decease (for the above mentioned considerations) I give all my estate both real and personal to my son Michael and his heirs forever: I say all my estate both personal and real of what nature or kind it may be, I give to the said Micahel Sword, my son, his heirs, executors, administrators and assigns forever, (after my decease,) And lastly, I do hereby constitute and appoint my said son Michael Sword, Executor of this my last will and testament, hereby revoking all other or former wills and testaments by me heretofore made. In witness whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this 15th day of March A.D. 1844.

Signed, sealed, published and delivered, by Michael Sword, Sr. as and for his last will and testament in the presence of and hearing of us, who at his request and in his presence have subscribed our names as witnesses.

Virginia: At a court held for Russell County at the Courthouse, on Tuesday the 5th day of May 1846.

This instrument of writing was exhibited in Court as and for the last Will and Testament of Michael Sword Senr. deceased, and proven by the oaths of John Bays and Michael S. Taylor the subsribing witnesses thereto and ordered to be recorded. And on the motion of Michael Sword executor named who made oath, and together with William Burk his security, entered into and acknowledged a bond in the penalty of $500 conditioned as the law directs, certificate is granted him for obtaining probat of the said will in due form.
