In the name of God, Amen I John Wallis Senr. of Russell County and Commonwealth of Virginia being weak in body by reason of old age and other infirmities, but perfect in mind and memort thanks be to God for all mercies; and calling to mind the mortality of my body knowin that it is appointed for all men once to die, etc, do make constitute and appoint this my last will and testament that is to say principally, first I recommend my soul unto God who gave it and my body I recommend to the earth from whence it was taken to be buried in a decent christian manner and form without pomp or vanity at the discretion of my executor in hope of a joyful reurrection by the almighty power of God, and as for what worldly estate it has pleased God to bless me with in this life I give and bequeath in the manner following: First I request all my lawful debts to be punctually paid. 1st Item. I give all my lands to my two sons John & Howard Wallis, the west end of my land I want John Wallis Jr. to have from a conditional line made by me and a fence made on the s'd conditional line and from said fence the east end of land I want Howard Wallis to have. 2nd item. I want my wife Elizabeth to have her support off of said land & I want John Wallis Jr. to see that she gets her support off of said land as long as she lives and take care of her and she is to keep her house and home if she chooses as long as she lives, and I want her to have her bed and furniture, and two cows and other household furniture such as she may want to keep for her benefit and use as long as she may live - And the ballance of my personal property I want to be equally divided between my five daughters. I do hereby order constitute and appoint my son John Wallis Jr. to be executor of this my last Will and Testament ratifying and confirming this and this only to be my last Will, revoking disannulling all and every other or (There appears to be a line missing here) bequeathed by me made confirming this the last. In witness whereof I have hereunto subscribed my name and affixed my seal this the twenty eighth day of March one thousand eight hundred and forty one.

At a Court of Quarterly session held for Russell County on the 8th day of November 1842: This instrument of writing was exhibited in Court as and for the last Will and Testament of John Wallis Senr. deceased, and proven by the oaths of John Lockhart and Valentine Miller two of the subscribing witnesses thereto and ordered to be recorded: and on the motion of John Wallis Jr. executor therein named who made oath and together with James Fletcher and Major A. Fletcher his securities entered into and acknowledged a bond in the penalty of $300, conditioned as the law directs, certificate is granted the said John Wallis Jr. for obtaining probat of the said will in due form.
