In the name of God amen. I Jeremiah Munsey of the County of Russell and State of Virginia, being feeble in body but of sound mind and disposing memory and first I commend my spirit into the hands of Almighty God who gave it, and my body to the dust from whence it came, to be buried in a decent Christian like manner.
2nd, It is my will and desire that after my death, that all my just debts and funeral expenses be paid out of my personal estate.
3rd, It is my will and desire that my Wife Elizabeth shall keep much of my property and farming utensils as she choose to keep during her natural life.
4th, It is my will and desire that after my death my executer herein after mentioned shall sell all my personal property, that is of my living property and farming utensils that my wife does not choose to keep, and the money there arising there upon with all the debts that may be owing to me at my death, the money equally divided between my several sons or my son's heirs.
5th, It is my will and desire that at the death of my wife, the property she may hold that is of property and farming utensils shall be sold by my executor, and the money equally divided between my several sons & my son's heirs.
6th, It is my will and desire that my wife Elizabeth shall have during her natural life all of my household and kitchen furniture except one bed, bedstead and furniture, which it is my will that Samuel Patton shall have.
7th, It is my will and desire that at the death of my wife that all my household and kitchen furniture be sold by my executor, and the money equally divided between my two daughters Mariah and Phebe.
8th, I give to my wife Elizabeth the farm that I now live on and also one other tract of land adjoining the same farm on the north, during her natural life and at her death, I give the same to my son Samuel Patton.
9th, It is my will that Samuel Patton shall pay my son Jesse, two hundred dollars three years after the death of my wife, also the Samuel Patton is to pay my two grandchildren, children of John Munsey deceased, one hundred and fifty dollars each, three years after he gets possession of aforesaid land.
Lastly, I appoint and constitute my friend Charles H. Gilmer my executor of this my last will and testament, hereby revoking all former wills made by me. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand affixed my seal this 13th November 1849.
