In the name of God Amen, I Jacob Rasnick of the county of Russell and the State of Virginia being debilitated by reason of old age sickness and infirmness and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die; and being of sound mind and disposing memory do make this my last will and testament, first of all I commend my spirit to heaven and my body to the dust whence it was taken and what worldly estate it hath pleased God to give unto me; I give and bequeath as followeth, viz- I want all my just debts and funeral expenses paid punctually.
I will and bequeath unto my son Elijah Rasnake one dollar in addition to bequest which I have heretofore made unto my said sons heirs.
I will and bequeath unto heirs of Julia Skeen once Rasnake five dollars each to be paid them by my son Charles Rasnake, I will and bequeath my son George Rasnake one hundred dollars to be paid by my aforesaid son Charles Rasnake, also I give my said son George Rasnake one certain Gray mare now in my possession.
I will and bequeath unto heirs of my son John M. P Rasnake five dollars each to be paid by my son Charles Rasnake. I will and bequeath unto Daughter Phebe Rasanke one hundred dollars to be paid by my said son Charles Rasnake.
I will and bequeath unto my daughter Nancy Skeen once Rasnake fifty dollars to be paid by my said son Charles Rasnake.
I will and bequeath my unto my son Lafayette Rasnake the tract or parcel of land upon which he now lives containing sixty five acres which was purchased by me from Gray & Dickenson heirs, his mother to have the use of the sugar orchard during her life time, I will and bequeath unto my son Charles Rasnake my home farm or tract of land upon I now reside containing one hundred and ninety four acres and my son is to provide comfortably for and mentain his mother Judea Rasnake, and pay the aforesaid named sums designated also I give my son Charles my wagon & Blacksmith tools. I will and bequeath unto my Daughter Elizabeth Wyatt once Rasnake fifty dollars to be paid by my son Charles Rasnake, I will and bequeth unto my son Jasper N. Rasnake all tract or parcel of land upon which he now lives on Smoots branch containing forty six acres.
I will and bequeath unto my grand Daughter Zilla Eddy Rasnake Daughter of Nancy Skeen our bed & bed stead and well furnished with covers, also one cow choice of my lot also four choice sheep and fifty dollars to be paid by Charles Rasnake my aforesaid son.
I will and bequeath unto my wife Judea Rasnake all my household and kitchen furniture all my sheep hogs and cattle with I have not disposed of otherwise also give unto my said wife all my hand money.
In witness where I have set my hand and seal, this twenty-seventh day of September one thousand eight hundred and sixty-two.

Codicil
Annexed to the above I Hereby give unto my son Thomas Carrell Rasnake who
was not mentioned above will the following amount to wit one hundred dollars
to be paid to him or his heirs by my son Charles Rasnake.

At a court held for Russell County at Courthouse on 8th day of September,
1863.
The last will and testament with Codicil of Jacob Rasnick deceased was this
day produced in Court and proved by oath of A.G. Smith and James Finney the
two subscribing witnesses thereto and ordered to be recorded. And upon the
motion Charles Rasnake who took the oath of an Executor with the will
annexed, and entered into and acknowledged his bond in the sum of two
thousand dollars together with A.G. Smith as his security thereto conditioned
as law directs, A certificate is therefore granted him for obtaining probate
of said will in due form.
