I Henry D. Burdine of the County of Russell and State of Virginia do make this my last will and testament in manner and form.
1st, After all my just debts & burial expenses are paid, I give to my grandaughter Eliza J. Tate all my personal property.
2nd, I also desire that all my real estate shall belong to my said grandaughter during her life. And at her death then belong to her heirs forever (provided that she feels able, or willing to pay off some deeds of trust and all judgement liens that may be against my lands at my death, but should she not be able or willing to make such payments, I desire that she may sell my lands and after paying all such claims, that she buy other lands with the remainder of the money thus needed, and should she think it best to sell a part of my lands to pay the debts above stated, I desire that she do so. And authorize her to make conveyance of the same by deed. and then I desire her to hold the remainder of my lands as above and first set forth, In this my will I hereby revoke all other wills made by me. Witness my hand and seal this 15th day of October 1885.

At a Court continued and held for Russell County ath the Courthouse thereof on Wednesday the 4th day of November 1885 The last will and testament of Herny D. Burdine was this day produced in court & proven by the oaths of E.S. Fugate & W.E. Tate the two subsribing witnesses thereto & ordered to be recorded. And on the motion of Jacob Tate who took oath of an Administrator prescribed by law and entered into and acknowledged a bond in the penalty of $1000.00 together with E.S. Fugate as his securities thereto conditioned by law. A certificate is granted him for obtaining letters of administration, with the will annexed of Henry D. Burine in due form.
