I Harvey Helton of Elk Garden Magister district, of Russell County Virginia, being of sound mind and knowing the uncertainty of life and the certainty of death do make this last will & testament hereby revoking all other will or writings purporting to be my will.
I will and devise to my son James Riley Helton in fee simple, the four following described tracts of land:
1. All that tract of land conveyed to me by Thomas S. Johnson by deed dated Oct. 23 1896 & recorded in clerks office pf Russell County Virginia in deed book No.30 Page 339 for which I paid $150.00, beginning at the mouth of Sand Rock Hollow.
2. All the certain tract of land conveyed to me by Thomas S. Johnson by deed dated March 8, 1895 and recorded in Clerk's office of Russell County Virginia Deed Book No. 29 Page 204 and for which tract I paid $150.00 and is supposed to contain 46 acres and adjoin my 150 acre tract.
3. All the certain tract of land conveyed to me by Mary Hardwick by deed dated Oct. 18, 1900 and which deed is recorded in Clerk's office of Russell County Virginia Deed Book No. 34 Page 465 and for which tract of land I gave $206.40.
4. All the certain tract of land conveyed to me by V.B. Thomas & Wife by deed dated Oct. 4. 1897 and recorded in clerks office of Russell County Virginia in Deed Book No. 31 Page 329 and for which tract of land I paid $400.00. To all the above four mentioned deeds reference is hereby made for a more particular description of the four tracts of land I hereby will & devise to my son James Riley Helton. However, I will and devise that my son James Riley Helton is to pay, at my death, to my daughter Lizzie Powers $150.00., and my son son James Riley Helton is to pay to heirs of my deceased daughter Emma Fields $150.00. These two amounts are to be a charge upon the lands herein devised to James Riley Helton until said amounts paid. The $150.00 each above referred to, is all that I wish to give or devise to my daughter Lizzie Powers, or the heirs of my my daughter Emma Fields deceased, and must be taken as thier share of my estate, for I will and devise that all of my land is to go to James Riley Helton and Lulu Helton as herein stated.
To my daughter Lulu Helton I hereby will and devise in fee simple all that tract of land conveyed to me by Thomas S. Johnson & Wife by deed dated March 1 1892 which deed is recorded in the Clerk's office of Russell County Virginia Deed Book No.27 page 495 and for which tract of land I paid $90.00 and is supposed to contain 30 acres. To my daughter Lulu Helton I further will and devise, after the death of my wife Martha Ann Helton, all that certain tract of land conveyed to me by Thomas S. Johnson & Wife by deed dated Nov 3, 1887 which deed is recorded in clerks office of Russell County Virginia in Deed Book No. 24 Page 492 and for which tract of land I paid $300.00 and which tract of land is supposed to contain 100 acres, and which tract of land at my wife's death is to go to my daughter Lulu Helton in fee simple.
To my wife Martha Ann Helton, I will and devise a life estate in the home tract of land suppose to contain 100 acres & being the same tract of land conveyed to me by Thomas S. Johnson. My wife Martha Ann Helton is to have use of and possession of this tract of land throughout her life , and at her death it is to go to my daughter Lulu Helton in fee simple. To my wife Martha Ann Helton I further bequeath all my household and kitchen furniture and also my the two cows that I now own. This the 24th day of March 1920.

Virginia: In the clerks office of the circuit court of Russell County, on the 30th day of April 1920. A paper writing purporting to be the will and testament of Harvey Helton, deceased, was this day produced in the clerks office of said court, before the clerk, and proven by the oath of W.S. Johnson and A.L.Johnson, the two subscribing witnesses thereto, as provided by law, to be the true last will and testament of the said Harvey Helton, deceased, and there upon said will was established, probated and ordered to be recorded as and for true and last will & testament of the said Harvey Helton, deceased.
