Know all men by these presents. I Doctor Hawkins of the County of Russell and State of Virginia ______ being feeble in body and of sound mind memory and understanding. But considering the uncertainty of this transitory life, do make and petition this my last will and testament, in manner and form following.
First - It is my will that all my just debts and funeral expenses be paid as soon as conveniently can be after my decease.
Next - I give and bequeath unto my son Elbert D. Hawkins all of my real estate nineteen acres of land supposed to be, on condition that he take care of his mother as long as she lives and his sister Sarah M. Hawkins as long as she wants to stay with him. The said Elbert D. Hawkins is also to give Mary J. and Sarah M. Hawkins his sister one cow each and to Margaret E. Milgrane his siter one dollar. The above named land is the same that I now own and lyes on the waters of Copper Creek and bound as follows on the north by John H. Salyer south and west by Habrome Elam and east by E____ ? Hawkins land. And lastly I appoint L. M. Salyer executor of this my will hereby revoking all other wills and declaring this and no other to be my last will. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this the 7th day of February 1890.

At a county court continued and held for Russell County at the courthouse thereof on Tuesday the 5th day of August 1890.
The last will of Doctor Hawkins deceased was this day again produced in court and proven by the oaths of S. P. Salyers and F. M. Salyers, the two subscribing witnesses thereto, and thereupon ordered to be recorded.
