In the name of God Amen.
I Caleb Hawkins in the County of Russell and state of Virginia, being of sane mind and sound memory thank God for the Same, January 5th 1898.
Do make and declare this my last will and testmanet; in the following manner and form 1st after my funeral expenses are paid; I desire all my just debts to be paid.
2nd. I give and bequeath unto my belove wife Jinnie Hawkings all my estate both real and personal for the use of her and my children during the natural life of my dear wife Jinnie unless she my said wife shall hereafter intermarry with some other man; then I desire that she my dear wife Jinnie shall only have and control one third of said estate, and other said two thirds shall be for my children; and at the death of my dear wife Jane if she dies before my youngest child becomes twenty one years old, then I desire that when the said youngest child becomes twenty one years old that such of my estate as then remains on hand may be sold and the proceeds equally divided between each of my children.
3rd. I now appoint my beloved wife as my executrix; to settle up and carry out this will, and I further desire that she be qualified in court as such executrix without giving any security on her bond as such.
4th. In case I do not leave sufficient money on hand to pay for my funeral expenses & all my debts, I desire my executrix to sell and convey a certain tract of land that was deeded to me by E. S. Fugate and wife containing twenty two acres, adjoining Thomas Johnson and J. L. Williams, and apply the proceeds to the payment of said expenses and debts and any balance shall be used by her for the benefit of her and my children.
5th. I now revoke, renounce and repudiate any and all wills by me formerly made in witness whereof I hereunto set my hand and seal and in the presence of the witnesses whose names are signed on the left January 5th 1898.

In a county court held for Russell County at the courthouse thereof on the 8th day of February 1898.
The last will of Caleb Hawkins deceased was this day produced in court and proved by the oath of J. L. Williams and Thos. Johnson two of the subscribing witnesses thereto, who testified that they witnessed said will at the request of the testator, and in his presence and in the presence of each other and in the presence of J. L. Johnson, the other subscribing witness thereto; whereupon said will was admitted to probate in due form of law.
