In the name of God, Amen I Ambrose Hamon of the County of Russell being in bad health, but of sound mind and memory and calling to mind the mortality of my boddy and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die do make this my last will and testament that is to say. 1st I give and bequeath to my wife Catherine part of my tract of land and houses whereon I now live that is to say all which I gvie to my my daughter Susan during her natural life and also a black man named William and one bay mare or bay horse three choice cows and calves ten head of sheep, all my hogs two beds and furniture the kitchen and household furniture one clock and one half of the grane on hand and also I wish the three hundred and ninety seven dollars coming to me from the Ohio State to be collected by my executor herein after named and disposed of by him to purchase a black girl for the benefit of my loving wif during her life. Secondly I have heretofore given my two sons Elijah and Isaiah Hamon all I ever intend to have given them and thirdly I give to my son Hezekiah Hamon one set of smyth tools and also at the death of my wife I wish my son to enjoy the land left her provided he the said Hezekiah Hamon supports my son Benjamin and if not he the said Hezekiah Hamon is to have one half of said land and the other half is to go to the support of my son Benjamin and at the death of my son Benjamin I wish my son Hezekiah Hamon to enjoy all the land willed to my wife and also one black man named William and also the black girl and increase provided he the said executor purchase the same and if not purchased the money to be equally divided between my wife and Hezekiah Hamon. And fourthly I give to my daughter Susan a part of my tract of land that is to say, commencing at my corner on the feed branch running with said branch to the road and with said road to opposet a new fence to my line and with said line to the beginning - And fifthly I wish all my property heretofore not named to be appraised and divided between my four children hereafter named and also my money and debts if any and after all my just debts and funeral expenses are paid by my executor I wish the balance if any to be divided between my sons Nathaniel and Hezekiah and Margaret and Susan. And lastly I do appoint my son Hezekiah Hamon to be my Executor of this my last will and testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 18th day of July in the year of our Lord eighteen hundred and forty two.

At a Court held for Russell County on the 6th day of September 1842.
This instrument of writing was exhibited in Court as and for the last Will and Testament of Ambrose Hamon deceased, and proven by the oath of Henry D. Burdine one of the subscribing witnesses thereto and admitted to record as to the perrsonal estate therein mentioned, and on the motion of Hezekiah Hamon executor therein named who made oath, and together with Richard B. Long and James O. Fraley his securities entered into and acknowledged a bond in the penalty of $500, conditioned as the law directs, certificate is granted the said Hezekiah Hamon for obtaining probat of the said will in due form.
And at a Court of quarterly session held for said County on the 8th day of November 1842: This instrument of writing was again exhibited in Court, as and for the last Will and Testament of Ambrose Hamon deceased and proven by the oath of Henry Dickenson a subscribing witness thereto and ordered to be recorded as to the real estate therein mentioned.
