Wilburn Lockhart was born abt. 1826 in Russell Co., VA. He was the s/o Bird Lockhart & Dicy Fields. Abt. 1845 he married Parlee Jackson, d/o William Jackson & Adeline Rogers. Parlee was born abt. 1827 in Russell Co. Wilburn & Parlee had five known children, Jane b. abt 1846, Eliza b. abt 1848, John W. b. abt 1850, Margaret A. b. abt 1852 and Dicy b. 28 Apr 1855. Parlee died sometime between 1855 and 1858 and on 08 Apr 1858 in Russell Co., Wilburn married Jane Compton, d/o Bartley Compton & Katherine Stiltner. Jane was born abt. 1837 in Tazewell Co., VA. After their marriage, Wilburn & Jane moved to Buchanan Co., VA. while most of his children from his previous marriage remained in Russell Co. with relatives. Wilburn & Jane had six known children of their own Vicey b. abt 1859, Jefferson b. abt 1863, William Preston b. abt 1865, Shadrick b. abt 1867, David b. abt 1875 and Mahala Rose b. abt 1878. Wilburn died in 1915 and Jane on 23 Nov 1924. They are buried on Hurricane Creek in Buchanan Co. high on the mountain above the homeplace of his granddaughter Mag "Lockhart" Perkins.
