Stanford Lea Jessee was born in Russell Co., Va. 23 Oct 1832. He was the son of Jefferson & Nancy Jessee. He married Sarah "Sallie" Fuller, the daughter of Jessee B. Fuller. On 10 Jul 1861 he enlisted in Co. A, 29th Va. Infantry in Russell Co. On 10 Jan 1862 he was killed in action at the battle of Middle Creek, Ky.
