Sparrell Henderson Hale was born 11 Mar 1832 in Franklin Co., VA, the s/o Jonathan Hale and Mary Cochram. On 11 Jan 1855 in Russell County he married Martha J. Fletcher, the d/o Eli & Agnes Fletcher. He served in Co. I, 22nd VA Cav. during the Civil War. He died 27 May 1913 and is buried in the Hale Cemetery on Hale Branch, Buchanan Co., VA.
