Simeon Jack Samples was born in Russell Co., Va. on 16 Nov 1833, the son of Simeon Hunt and Polly Samples Hunt. Polly was the second wife of Simeon Hunt. On 10 Jun 1852 Simeon married Nancy Boyd, the daughter of Jonathan Boyd and Mary Burnett. Nancy was born 14 Dec 1831. Simeon and Nancy had 11 children: Mary, Catherine, William, Celia Isabelle, George, Emily, Jonathan, Albert, Sarah, David and Jesse. At some point, Simeon & Nancy moved their family to Estill Co., Ky., and later to Lee Co., Ky. Simeon died 30 Oct 1898 and Nancy 08 Sep 1915. They are buried on their farm in Lee Co.
