Shadrack W. "Shade" Ray was born in April 1850 in Russell Co., VA., the s/o John Ray & Malinda Dye. On 03 Dec 1867 in Russell Co., he married Delilah Hubbard, d/o William Harrison Hubbard & Mary Lyles. Delilah was born in May 1852. Shadrack & Delilah had eleven children. In the first photo of her above, she is holding their oldest daughter, Cosby Jane Ray. Shadrack died in April 1925 and Delilah in January 1935. They are buried in the family cemetery on Hollow Poplar Ridge, near Swords Creek, Russell Co., VA.
