Pryor Dye, Jr. was born in Russell Co., Va. on 15 Mar 1834, the son of Pryor Dye & Carlotta Carter. On 30 Apr 1857 he married Sarah Ann Williams. During the Civil War, Pryor Dye, Jr. served in Co's. D & I of the 22nd VA Cavalry, CSA. Pryor & Sarah had 10 children: 1) Charles William Dye b: 05 Feb 1858. 2) Mary Ann Dye b: 14 Nov 1859. 3) Aaron A. Dye b: 04 Nov 1861. 4) Rusha Ellen Dye b: 11 Jun 1863. 5) Elihue Dye b: 28 Dec 1865. 6) Julia A. Dye b: 18 Feb 1868. 7) Samuel Patton Dye b: 07 Apr 1871. 8) John Henry Dye b: 05 Aug 1873. 9) James Elbert Dye b: 11 Oct 1874. 10) Florence Dye b: 15 Mar 1879. Pryor Dye, Jr. died on 08 Feb 1918 in Russell Co. Both he and Sarah as well as their son Samuel P. Dye and daughter Mary A. Dye are buried in the Goodman Cemetery located near Swords Creek, Va.
