John Ray was born abt 1853 (Tombstone lists 18 Aug 1850) in Russell Co., VA, the s/o John Ray & Malinda Dye. On 15 Mar 1873 in Russell Co. he married Mary Jane Ball the d/o Wilson Ball & Eliza A. Brooks. Mary was born in Russell Co. 20 Mar 1854. Mary died 09 Jan 1942 and John 16 Oct 1943, both in Russell Co. They are buried in the John Ray family cem. in Call Valley, Russell Co., VA. Pictured in the second photo are John & Mary, son Reese and daughters, from left to right, Bertha, Lula and Georgia.
