Frederick Combs was b. 1847, Russell Co VA, and died 1907, Morgan Co KY. He was the son of Cullen Combs & Sallie Sargent. He married Lovisa Christian, 27 Nov 1865, Sullivan Co TN. We have not been able to find anything on Lovisa with the exception of death date, 15 Jan 1895, Morgan Co KY. Cullen Combs was b. 1820, Russell Co Va and d. abt 1868, Russell Co VA. He married Sarah "Sallie" Sargent, abt. 1840. Her parents were David Sargent and Rebecca Lockhart. David was b. 9 Oct 1798, Russell Co Va and d. 5 Aug 1868, Roane Co WV. He married Rebecca Lockhart, 1820, Russell Co VA, the d/o William Mitchell Lockhart and Catherine "Caley" Scott. In the will of William Combs, 1841, he left most the farming operation to Cullen, one of the youngest of the 13 children. The Civil War devestated the farming operation in the 1860's and Cullen, badly in debt, moved the family to Morgan Co KY to attempt a fresh start. Frederick and his sister, Virginia, married and remained in KY. Cullen, his health failing, moved the family back to Russell Co where he died. Sarah "Sallie" Sargent Combs then moved the family to Roane Co WV where her Sargent Family had moved and all the children with the exception of Frederick and Virginia grew up in that area.
