Elijah Sutherland was born 10 Oct 1823, the son of Daniel Sutherland and Phoebe Fuller. In 1846 he married Mary "Polly" Childress, the daughter of Abraham Childress. Mary was born 18 Oct 1822. Elijah and Mary had 10 children: 1) Elihu b: abt. 1848, 2) Martha b: 23 Aug 1849, 3) Rebecca, 4) Elizabeth b: abt. 1852, 5) Cynthia b: abt. 1856, 6) Phoebe b: abt. 1857, 7) Frances b: 25 Feb 1858, 8) Mary, 9) Elijah Beauregard b: 12 Feb 1862 and Noah b: 10 Nov 1866. Mary "Polly" Sutherland died 21 Jan 1887 and Elijah 25 Nov 1918.
