Elias & Cosby Jane "Ray" Ray

Elias Ray was born abt. 1861 in Russell Co., VA, the s/o Elias Ray & Cynthia Honaker. Elias' father was killed in action at the battle of Kernstown on 23 Mar 1862 and his mother re-married to Henderson Dye. On 27 Feb 1883, in Russell Co., Elias married Cosby Jane Ray, d/o Shadrack W. "Shade" Ray & Delilah Hubbard. Cosby was born abt. 1868 in Russell Co. Elias and Cosby had fourteen children. The dates of their deaths are not known at this time. Thye are buried in the Honaker - Ray family cemetery near the junction of Lewis Creek and the Clinch River, south of Honaker in unmarked graves. This photo was probably taken about 1899 or 1900 and it's believed that the persons depicted are as follows: Back Row: Alafair Ray, Shade Ray, Jonas Ray.
