Daniel Lewis French was b. 04 February 1839 Giles County, VA and d. 13 December 1931, Dickenson County, VA. He was the son of Hugh C. & Rachel French. Emaline Smith was b. 30 August 1848, Russell County, VA and d. 17 October 1917, Dickenson County, VA. She was the daughter of George Washington Smith and Phoebe Musick and granddaughter of James "Jeams" Smith & Sarah Counts and Elexious Musick & Lydia Thompson. Daniel & Emeline were married 29 September 1865. Pictured with Daniel & Emeline are son James Milton French, his wife Melissa and their daughter Annie.
