Alfred & Eliza Ann "Plaster" Dye

Alfred Dye was born in Russell County, Virginia about 1845, the son of John Dye and Nancy Little. In 1863, Alfred enlisted in Co. D, 22nd Va. Cav. C.S.A., in which he served the remainder of the Civil War. On 02 Nov 1863 he married Eliza Ann Plaster the daughter of Mark H. Plaster and Louvenia Sharpe. Eliza was born about 1843. Alfred and Eliza had 10 children as follows: 1) Joseph B. Dye born June 1866, married Lucindeny Elswick; 2) Lydia Florence Dye born 10 Feb 1868, married Samuel Patton Breedlove; 3) Albure J. Dye born February 1870, married Jackson M. Sparks; 4) Elkana Lee Dye born 10 Jun 1871, married Virginia Alice Perkins; 5) Arminta A. Dye born 05 Dec 1872, married Martin Brown; 6) Robert Richardson Dye born 15 Sep 1875 married Myrtle Ellen Dye the daughter of Chrisman & Leah "Thompson" Dye; 7) Virginia A. Dye born abt 1877, married George W. Russ, Jr.; 8) William Preston Dye born 05 Jan 1877, married 3 times A) Louvenia K. Russ, a sister to George Russ, Jr., B) Flora Ethel "Plaster" Ray and C) Elizabeth "Perkins" Dye, who was first married to Williams brother, Lonney A. Dye; 9) Archy Graham Dye born August 1880, married Amanda Eva Call and 10) Lonney A. Dye born September 1883, married Elizabeth Perkins. Alfred Dye is buried in the Alfred Dye family cemetery in Swords Creek, Virginia. On his tombstone is written "Alfred Dye TR. D. 22 VA. CAV. C.S.A." Though there are no stones with markings to the effect, it is balieved that Alfreds wife, Eliza is also buried there.
