Beverly Randolph Esquire Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia, to all to whom the presents shall come greetings: Know ye, that by virtue and in consideration of a pre? treasury warrant number one thousand nine hundred and sixty eight issued the twentieth day of December one thousand seven hundred and eighty one there is granted by the said Commonwealth unto Ericus Smith assignee of Francis Wilkinson a certain tract or parcel of land containing eighty two acres by survey bearing date the fourth day of May one thousand seven hundred and eighty four lying and being in the County of Washington on the waters of Thompsons Creek a branch of Clinch River and is bounded as followeth to wit, Beginning at a double black oak on the south side of a meadow, Samuel Priests corner, and running with his line north thirty degrees east eighty three poles to a large white oak, thence leaving said Priests line and running south sixty nine degrees east seventy one poles to two red oaks by a branch, south nine degrees east eighty seven poles to a white oak by a path, south thirteen degrees west fifty eight poles crossing a branch to two white oaks on a ridge, north eighty three degrees west forty poles to a double dogwood on the side of said ridge, north thirty eight degrees west one hundred and twelve poles to the Beginning with its appurtenances; to have and to hold the said tract or parcel of land with its apputenances to the said Ericus Smith and his heirs forever. In witness whereof the said Beverly Randolph Esquire Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia, hath hereunto set his hand, and caused the lesser seal of the said Commonwealth to be affixed at Richmond, on the seventeenth day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and eighty seven and of the Commonwealth the twelfth.

Edmund Randolph Esquire Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia, to all to whom the presents shall come greetings: Know ye, that by virtue of a certificate in right of settlement given by the Commissioners for adjusting titles to unpatented lands in the district of Washington and Montgomery and in consideration of the ancient composition of one pound sterling paid by Ericus Smith into the treasury of this Commonwealth there is granted by the said Commonwealth unto the said Ericus Smith a certain tract or parcel of land containing two hundred acres by survey bearing date the fourth day of October one thousand seven hundred and eighty three lying and being in the County of Washington on the waters of Thompsons Creek a branch of Clinch River and is bounded as followeth to wit, Beginning at a walnut and two sugar trees on the foot of a ridge of knobs and running thence north seven degrees west thirty poles to two large white oaks, north thirty four degrees east twenty two poles to two white oaks and a red oak, north seventeen degrees west sixty poles to a large white oak a dogwood and seven berry saplings on the south side of a branch, south seventy three degrees west one hundred and forty two poles to a red oak, hickory, maple and litten sapling in the fork of a branch, south forty five degrees west sixty seven poles crossing a branch to a dogwood and beech near a field, north fifty eight degrees west sixteen poles to four sugar tree saplings on the side of a hill, south forty seven degrees west one hundred and two poles to a large white oak a beech on the top of a ridge, south eighty two degrees west fifty three poles to two beeches and dogwood sapling on a spur, south thirty six degrees west sixty seven poles to two beeches and a dogwood sapling on the west side of a branch, south thirty nine degrees east twenty poles up said branch to an ash and beech on the west side of the same, north seventy three degrees east three hundred and eighty poles running along the north side of a ridge of knobs to the Beginning with its appurtenances; to have and to hold the said tract or parcel of land with its apputenances to the said Ericus Smith and his heirs forever.
