A Russell Co family bible recently surfaced. Appears to have been
started by Martha J. Taylor 1840/1906 (wife of John C. Taylor) &
continued by another family member. While Martha & John had 5 children
(& 1 died young), she only records the dates for son Walter Taylor and
daughter Cora Stinson (moved to TX) children.

Comments: We are researching a Scott line there, with
origin to Tazwell Co., from Gordon Co. GA from Spartinburg CO. SC from
Culpeper Co. VA. There are several Scott lines in the area, we are of
the William Mason Scott line (lived Tazwell Co. 1870 in Maiden Springs
District) who had two sons, Jacob Bishop Scott (b. 1855) and John R. (b.
1857) living in Tazwell Co. in 1870 and 1880. We have one generation of
John R., all of Jacob B. except William Roie's descendants. If any
sounds familiar, we would like to correspond further as most of John R.'s
family is lost. They lived in the Saltville, VA area until about 1920-
1930. He owned a general merchandise store we were told.
If there is a link, we have the roots of this family in the sequence
listed, to England in 1635.

new info every time I visit. Iam researching FUGATE/VANCE
James FUGATE- was adopted by FRANCIS FUGATE/FUGETE/ when Francis married
his mother NANCY VANCE. (I believe this is Nancy's maiden name) The
Fugate family moved to Ky around 1815. Francis stayed in SW Va. James
moved to Morgan Co Ky; other Fugates moved to Breathitt Co Ky. Fugates
lived around Powell Valley and Mocassin Creek. The petition to form
Russell Co was signed by : Coleby Fugate (this is the line that went to
Breathitt co Ky), James Fugate, Josiah Fugate and Zachariah Fugate. I
need to know which of these Fugates would be the father of FRANCIS
FUGATE: Frances is last found in 1820 Scott Co Tax List.
I would like to have more info on NANCY VANCE. Is this her maiden name?
