Comments: Found this site while tracing my family ancestry.
Quite a few of my family were from Russell County going back to 1737 when
a Thomas Hendricks settled in what was to become Russell County. He had a
land grant from colonial Virginia, later added to by a land grant from
Virginia, issued by Patrick Henry, and he built a home there at Elk
Garden in about 1806. I have a list of names and dates but wish I could
get some more detailed information about family members descending from
Russell County.
