This Indenture made this 14th day of February 1817, between Robert Vicars and Milly, his wife heirs & devises, under the last will and testament of the Reverend James Madison of the County of Russell and state of Virginia of the one part and John Vicars of the said county of the other part - Witnesseth that the said Robert Vicars and Milly, his wife, heirs and devises as aforesaid for and in consideration of the sum of sixty two dollars and fifty cents to them in hand paid by the said John Vicars on or before the ensealing of them presents the receipt whereof they do hereby acknowledge and acquit him the said J. Vicars his heirs & thereof have granted bargained sold aliend enscoffed confirmed and conveyed, and by these presents do grant bargain sell aliend enscoff confirm and convey to the said J. Vicars his heirs and assigns forever a certain tract or parcel of land lying and being in the county of Russell on Molls Creek a north branch of Copper and adjoining a tract of land surveyed for William Spratt and containing two hundred acres more or less and bounded as to wit. - Beginning at a white oak and black near the main county road being the beginning corner to a tract of land surveyed for William Spratt and runing thence with his line S62 W285 poles pasing his corner to a blak oak and white oak on a ridge N50 W134 poles crosing Molls Creek to a poplar on a hill side N58 E308 poles to two white oaks on the east side of a small branh S39 E147 poles to the beginning, To have and to hold the aforesaid tract of land except a parcel which lays adjoining my land runing from above my meadow up the ridge and thence down a bottom to my spring a conditional line made between the party concerned in the presents of Joseph Barker, Paul Vicars and Martin Phillips supposed to be fifty acres taken off the tract I bought of Robert G. Scott the other part of the said trat of land with all & singular its appertainenes ways waters orchards house and improvements thereon to the said J. Vicars, his heirs & assigns forever to his and their own proper use and behoof forever. And the said Robert Vicars and Milly, his wfie, for themselves their heirs executors or assigns do covenant to and with the said J. Vicars his heirs or assigns that they will to him forever warrant and defend the title to the aforesaid granted tract of land against the claims whatsoever. In witness whereof we have hereunto set our hands and seals this 14th day of February 1817.

We Amos Smyth and Samuel Aston Magistrates for the County aforesaid do hereby certify that Robert Vicars party to the within conveyance both duly acknowledged the same before us on the 14th day of February 1817 and desired us to certify the same acknowledgment to the clerk of the County Court of Russell in order that the said conveyance may be recorded. As witness our hands and seals.

Russell County to wit:
We Amos Smyth and Samuel Aston magistrates for the county aforesaid do hereby certify that on the 14th day 1817 February we examined Milly Vicars a party to the within deed of conveyance privately and apart from her husband when she acknowledged the said Deed to have been executed by her free from any compulsion or restraint imposed on her by her husband and that she did not wish to retrat such her execution, which we certify to the clerk of the County Court of Russell as witness our hands and seals.
