This Indenture made this 29 day of January one thousand eight hundred & 14 between Charles Kilgore and Mary his
wife of Russell County and Commonwealth of Virginia of the one part and James Nickels of the county and state
aforesaid of the other part Witnesseth that the said Charles Kilgore for and in consideration of four hundred dollars
lawful money of Virginia to him in hand paid the receipt whereof he doth here acknowledge hath granted & bargained
and sold and by these presents doth grant bargain & sell unto the above named James Nichols a certain tract or parcel
of land lying and being in the county of Russell on the North side of Mockerson ridge it being part of a tract that
belonged to George Stacey being seventy five acres more or less, and bounded as followeth to wit Beginning at a white
oak on a clift thence running across the bent of the creek, thence to a beach on the side of the creek, thence up the
creek as it runs to the mouth of a dry branch cornering on two beaches, and a dogwood, thence on a conditional line
between the said Charles Kilgore and James Green thence running to two white oaks, thence on a conditional line
between sd Charles Kilgore and Gray to a bucky & sugartree, thence along the several courses of the line cornering on
the south side of Copper Creek, thence up the said creek to the beginning with its appurtenances to have and to hold
the said tract or parcel of land unto the said James Nicles and his heirs forever and the said Charles Kilgore and Mary
his wife and their will forever warrant and defend the said tract or parcel of land with all its appurtenances to the above
named James Nicholas and to his heirs and assigns against the claims of all others. In witness whereof the said Charles
Kilgore and Mary his wife have hereunto subscribed their names the day and year above written.
