This indenture made the first day of October in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety five Between Michael Oxer and Jane his wife of Russell County and Commonwealth of Virginia of the one part and John Crank of the County and State aforesaid of the other part witnesseth that the said Michael Oxer for and in consideration of the sum of seventy five pounds current money of Virginia to him in hand paid the receipt whereof he doth hereby acknowledge do grant, bargain and sell unto the said John Crank and his heirs one certain tract or parcel of land containing fifty acres be the same more or less lying and being in the county of Russell on Copper Creek being part of a larger tract which was granted to Jacob Neese by patent from this Commonwealth bearing date the 5th of July 1785 which includes all the land that lies Eastwardly of a blazed chesnut (supposed to stand near the open line of the said patent land) on the top of a hill west of a hollow called craborchard and thence along the said hill a direct course with some blazed trees to said Cranks line and thence along his line to the East line of the said patent land, together with all the appurtenances thereunto belonging to have and to hold the said tract of land with all its appurtenances unto the said John Crank and his heirs forever, the said Michael Oxer & Jean his wife will warrant and forever defend the said tract or parcel of land from the right or claims of all persons whatsoever. In witness whereof the said Michael Oxer and Jean his wife have hereunto subscribed their names and affixed their seals the day and year above written.

At a Court held for Russell County Oct. 27th 1795
This indenture of bargain and sale from Michael Auxer and Jean his wife to John Crank was produced in Court and acknowledged by the said Michael Auxer and Jean his wife being privily examined as the law directs and thereupon was ordered to be recorded.
