Statement concerning War of 1812 service of Thomas James & naming heirs

08 November 1816
This day John Hamon personally appeared in court & being duly sworn deposeth & saith that under his command as a Captain of a detachment of militia marched from the County of Russell to Norfolk in the United State service Thomas James served at Norfolk in the 6th Regiment commanded by Col Henry E. Coleman immediately previous to his death which occurred the 26th of December 1814 occasioned by sickness. Edward Kelly a respectable person being duly sworn deposeth and saith that the said Thomas James left two children namely William & John, William the oldest being about six years old, which children together with Polly the widow of said Thomas reside in Claiborne County in the State of Tennessee, and that the said widow has since the death of said Thos intermarried with another person.
