Comments: Hi, I finally found Mathews County, VA. It's a long story but my aunt did a lot of family researching and we are decended from the Christopher Tompkins family by way of the Andersons to the Singletons to the Gillespies. After some years I got back into family researching and remembered her telling me about Sally Tompkins and I decided to do some researching on her. What I will do with it all, I don't know. Comments: I have visited Mathews County quite a few times in the past couple of years- some friends of mine have a camper at Newpoint Campgrounds. I fell in love with the town for it's small-town look and feel from a time long ago gone, the wonderful and friendly people I have met there and the Bay!!!! Also, the Irish Cottage is a fantastic place to go!!!
