Obituary for Parthenia Sink Dunman - Franklin Co. Va

 

 

Mrs. Parthenia Sink Dunman

 

Mrs. Parthenia Sink Dunman, 88, wife of Henry D. Dunman died yesterday afternoon.

 

Surviving are two sons and three daughters: Luther M. Dunman, Greenlee; William Sink, Roanoke; Mrs W. A. Clark, Clifton Forge; Mrs Laura Spicer,Roaring Fork NC and Mrs M. J. Minnix, Troutville.  Also surviving are 39

grandchildren and 50 great grandchildren.

 

Funeral services will be conducted at the residence of Mrs. A. W.Whorley, 1125 Moorman Road NW at 2 o’clock Monday afternoon.  Internment will be in Fairview.

Obituary for Samuel J. Dunman - Franklin Co. Va

 

 

Samuel J. Dunman

 

Samuel J. Dunman, 58 of 1706 Moorman Avenue NW, died at 8:30 o’clock yesterday morning in a local hospital, following a brief illness.

 

He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Julia Page Dunman, and four sons and four daughters: James W., Latene W., Clarence R. and Ray Dunman, and Mrs. J. R. (Bessie) Argenbright, Mrs. H. F. (Lillie) Tatum, Mrs. L J. Minnix, Mrs. J. J. (Willie) Field and Ruth Dunman.  He is also survived by one brother and three sisters: Luther M. Dunman, Roanoke: Mrs L. J. Minnix, Roanoke; Mrs. W. A. Clark, Clifton Forge; and Mrs Laura Spicer, Benham, NC.

 

Funeral services will be conducted at Melrose Baptist Church at two o’clock Friday Afternoon.  The internment will be in Fairview.

 

Active pallbearers will be J. J. Meador, J. H. Poff, A. Mullins, Ray Pate, A. B. Young and C. E. Shipman.

 

Honorary pallbearers will be A. K. Sledd, T. M. Young. R. B. Jones, Clyde Pate, Lewis Haley Field, Harry F. Tatum, John J. Field, Joe Mullins, C. L. Tinsley, J. R. Argenbright, James Bays, Leonard Prilliaman and W. N. Latta.

Obituary of David W. Franklin, 1938

 

David W. Franklin, 77, prominent man of the Huddleston community, died suddenly last Friday, his death occurring at the home of a neighbor on whom he had called that afternoon. Mr. Franklin was a native of the county, being

the son of the late John and Frances Saunders Franklin, and the greater part of his life was spent in the neighborhood where death ocurred.  He was a memeber of the Baptist Church and also of the board of deacons and for many

years had given active support to the work of his own denomination and to Christian causes generally.  He was a member of the Otterview lodge of Odd Fellows.

 

Mr. Franklin is survivied  by the following children:  W.H. Franklin, of Wells Nevada;U.D. Franklin, of Birmingham Alabama: Hayden, Jesse, Gilbert and Harry Franklin and Mrs. Corbitt Mitchell, Mrs. Roy Nichols, Mrs. Richard

Johnson, of Huddleston;  Mrs. O.S. Tuck, of Moneta, and J.E. Franklin of Roanoke.  The following brothers also survive:  J. H. Franklin, of Lynchburg, and Jesse Franklin of Bluefield W. VA.

 

Funeral services were conducted at Stauton Baptist Church Sunday afternoon by the pastor Rev. H. L. Cooper, assisted by Rev. A.C. Lawson, and burial was in the church cemetery.
