Museum
Rare oil paintings, photographs, liquor distilling memorabilia including "recipes", documents, railroad items, old postcards, glassware, more.

Library and Store
The library has many family histories, historical publications found no where else.
Historical publications, items for sale.
Franklin County Historical Society provides research assistance.
Our volunteers do the work and all money collected goes into our operating fund.
We request a donation of $20 per hour for research -
plus copying fees (25 cents for copies from our holdings and those at the public library - 50 cents for courthouse copies).

The Bassett collection is one of the best in the Piedmont and in southwestern Virginia

The Historical Center is a separate branch of the Blue Ridge Regional Library and not a department of the Bassett Branch Library. We are in different buildings and have different directors and staff

The Southside Virginian

is a quarterly magazine for the Southside Virginia counties.
Their stated list of counties includes Franklin Co.
Subscriptions are on a calendar year basis at $22.00 ($24.00 after March 1st of each year).
