List of the Land Tax within the district of Charles Pickett Commissioner
in the County of Fauquier for the year AD 1800

shared the Fauquier 1800 Personal Property Records for the Northwestern
District and the Southern District. Her notes:
The lists are
transcribed in the original spelling and abbreviations. For instance,
the surname Scott is seen as “Scoot”. A common abbreviation used is
“decd” for deceased. Also seen in the name field are “son of James” or
“Tinpot”, which refers to the location Tinpot Run. Other comments about
the land can refer to location, such as “on river”. The previous owner,
when given, is generally by surname, as in “of Anderson”. However, in
the case of John Washington, “of Nathaniel” refers to his father,
Nathaniel Washington.
