JOHN BREWER

In the Name of God Amen. I John Brewer of the County of Dinwiddie Being Sick in Body but in Sound memory Do make and ordain this my Last Will and Testament. Item. I give and bequeath to my well beloved Wife Usle (?) Brewer the whole of my Estate Real and Personal after collecting all debts due to me and discharging all lawful debts that I owe. I then leave my friend Jordan Reese whole and sole Executor of this my Last Will and Testament.

Signed Sealed and delivered in the presence of us this fourth day of October in the year of our Lord 1798.

MARY C. COAPLAND

I Mary C. Coapland of the County of Dinwiddie being in a low state of health, but of sound and disposing mind, do make an and ordain this my last will and Testament. I give to my dearly beloved husband Benjamin W. Coapland all of my property both real and personal which I am at this time possessed of and to which I may be entitled to by any at any other time by any devise, inheritance or which may belong to me at the death of my mother. I constitute and appoint him my whole ... [illegible] contengencies remainder or reversion to which I may be entitled. I commit my child Anna to his guardian[ship] and paternal care and tenderness. In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 12th day of May 1826.

In the name of God Amen. I Susannah Ledbetter of the County of Dinwiddie being in a low state of health but of perfect mind and memory make and ordain this my last Will and testament revoking all other wills heretofore made by me. Item. I give and bequeath to my daughter Judith P. Ledbetter one feather bed and its furniture, and after all of my just debts are paid the balance of my estate of whatever nature it may be I give to my three youngest sons to wit: Henry W. Ledbetter, Nathan Ledbetter and Joel Ledbetter to be equally divided to them and their heirs forever. Lastly 1 constitute and appoint my son in law David Pilkington and [illegible] my executors of this my last will and testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 17th day of February one thousand eight hundred and fifteen.

MARY POYTHRESS

I Mary Poythress of the County of Dinwiddie being very sick and weak but in perfect mind and memory thanks be to God; and calling to mind that all must die and return to dust from whence they came, so make and ordain this my last will and Testament -I do give, devise and bequeath to my Loving Daughter Tabitha Poythress and her heirs forever, whatever falls or belongs to me by Law, of my Dec'd husband Edward Poythress' estate.

I do choose and appoint William FitzGarrett and my [ ]ter Tabitha Poythress Executors of this my last will and Testament. Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and offered my seal this 21st day of July 1772.

FRANCIS POYTHRESS

In the name of God Amen. I Francis Poythress being in health of [illegible] and of a sound disposing mind but calling to mind the mortality of my body do make and ordain this my last will and Testament in manner and form following in primis I give devise and bequeath unto my loving wife all my estate of every kind that I do possess Reserving unto my Daughter Mary Peterson Randolph which I give five shillings which said sum I give unto my daughter to her and her heirs forever.

Item. Whereas there was a marriage contract between my wife and myself and whereas the true intent and meaning of the said writing was that my said wife was to enjoy and have the full and free disposal of all the Estate of every kind that came by her without the ? or hindrance of me and my Heirs. Now if there should be any deficiences in the said writing so as to [illegible] my Heirs to any of the property [illegible] my wife my will and desire is and I do hereby revoke all such claim and desire that my wife and her Heirs should enjoy all the Estate that came by her without the hindrance or molestation of my Heirs. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 10th Day of December Anno Dommini 1796.

I Patrick Poythress being of sound mind and lawful age, do ordain the following to be my Last Will and Testament.
In the first place, I give unto my loving wife Elizabeth, during her widowhood all the Estate I now have, or may hereafter have, but in case of her marriage I then give it equally to be divided between my children. I appoint Mr. [illegible] to be my Executor.

In the Name of God Amen. I Lewis Conner being sick and weak of Body, tho of perfect mind and memory, and calling to mind that it is appointed unto men once to die, do make and constitute... [illegible] my Last Will and Testament in manner and form following Viz: first I direct and Order all my Estate of what kind or quality soever to be sold by my Executor hereaf[ter] named and after my just debts paid.

I give and bequeath unto Mark (?) [Lan]gley son of Johnathan Langley of Norfolk County fifty Pounds current money.

I give and bequeath unto James [Hen]derson Junr son of James Henderson of Petersburg fifty Pounds current money.

I give and bequeath unto Nathaniel Young fifty Pounds the like money for his Trouble in executing this my last Will and Testament.

Item. I give and bequeath unto Sign (?) Bartle and to her Children to be equally divided them fifty Pounds the like Money.
And all the Residue of my Estate [illegible] bequeath unto my [ ]ther Charles Conner.

And lastly I do nominate and appoint Nathaniel Young whole and sole Executor of this my last will and Testament. In witness whe[reof] I have hereunto set my Hand and Seal this 23rd Day of November no Domini One Thousand Seven Hundred and Seventy One.

Dinwiddie County to wit. I Charles Whitmore being in my sound health and memory at this time and knowing all men hath to die, my soul I give to God and my body to the dust from whence it came.

My Land and Stock, household and Citching [kitchen] furniture I give to my Sary and her increase forever and them to be free after my Death for which cose [cause] I think proper.

WILLIAM LEWIS

In the name of God Amen. I William Lewis of the Countyof Dinwiddie, being stricken in years and infirm; tho of perfect mind and memory; and recollecting the vicissitude and uncertainty of all human events, do hereby make and ordain this to be my last Will and testament in manner and form following to wit;

I give and bequeath to my wife Lucy Lewis one negro woman by the name of Ailee to her, her heirs and assigns forever.

Item. I lend to my aforesaid wife, Lucy, until her death or marriage the tract of land together with the appurtenances thereon which I now reside containing by estimation one hundred and four acres, be the same more or less to have and to hold the same unmolested so long as she remains my widow as aforesaid. I also lend to my said wife the use of all my stock, household and kitchen furniture and plantation utensils so long as she remains my widow and no longer.

Item. I give and bequeath to my daughter Fanney B. Lewis my negro girl by the name of Winney to her, her heirs and assigns forever.

Item. I give and bequeath to my son William Lewis (after the death or marriage of my aforesaid wife) the aforesaid tract of land I have above loaned to my said wife; to have and to hold the same in fee simple with its appertenances to him and his Heirs and assigns forever.

Item. I give and bequeath to my aforesaid daughter Fanny Bosman after the death or marriage of my said wife, one Feather bed and furniture, to her her Heirs and assigns forever.

Item. All the residue of my Estate of every description which I have loaned to my wife as above, at her death or marriage I give to my son William Lewis, to him his Heirs and assigns forever.

Item. My will and desire is that no appraisement shall be had on my Estate. I do further by these presents constitute and appoint my said son William Lewis Executor of this my last will. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this ninth day of January Eighteen hundred and ten.

JOHN MINGGE

In the name of God Amen. I John Mingge of the County of Dinwiddie being Sick and weak in body but of perfect mind and memory calling to mind the mortality of my body do make and ordain this to be my last Will and Testament in manner and form following. I bequeath my Soul to Almighty God that gave it trusting in the merits of my Saviour Jesus Christ for the remissions of my Sins and for my Body I commend it to the Earth to be buried in a Christianlike and Decent manner at the discretion of my Executors hereafter named and as touching such Worldly Estate wherewith it bath pleased God to bless me with in this life I give Devise and Despose of the same in manner and form following (Viz)...

Imprimis. I give to my beloved Wife Nancy Mingge the whole of my Estate both real and personal during her natural life, except the first colt my Bay Mare brings.

Item. I give the said colt to my Son[s] John and Charles Mingge, to be taken at the age of six months. The rest of the Estate I give to my wife for her support and to raise the three small children namely Elijah Mingge, Jensy Jones Mingge, Nathan Mingge.

Item. I give to my Son Nathan Mingge all my Lands I now possess at his Mother's death.

Item. My Will and desire is that at my wife's death the whole of the Estate shall be equally divided between the whole of my children that is then living...

Lastly, I nominate and appoint my wife Nancy Mingge, and William G. Mingge Whole and Sole Executors of this my last Will and Testament and I do hereby utterly disallow revoke and [illegible] all and every other former Testaments, Wills, and Legacies, Requests, and Executors, by me in any ways before this time named, willed, and bequeathed gratifying and confirming this, and no other, to be my last Will and Testament.

In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this Third day of July Eighteen Hundred and One. Signed, Sealed and Delivered in presence of -

ELIZABETH PERKINS

In the name of God Amen. I Elizabeth Perkins of the County of Dinwiddie being perfectly in my senses do make and order this to be my Last Will and Testament in manner and form following.
Imprimis. I recommend my Soul into the hand of Almighty God [who] gave it to me trusting through the merits of my blessed Saviour Jesus Christ to inherit Eternal life and as touching such worldly goods as it hath pleased God to bless me with, I give and dispose of as follows -
Item. I give and bequeath unto Joseph Brown the following property Two feather beds and furniture belonging t[illegible] to Two Chest, Two pine tables and all the remainder of my household and kitchen furniture of all kind whatsoever to him and his Heirs forever.
Item. I give and bequeath unto Joseph Brown Two horses and all my Stock of Cattle and Hogs to him and his Heirs forever. Item. I give and bequeath to Joseph Brown all my crop of all kind whatsoever to him and his heirs forever. Item. Igive and bequeath to Joseph Brown all the remains of my Estate of all kind whatsoever to him and his heirs forever. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 11 Day of October Eighteen hundred and five.

LEWIS PERKINS

In the name of God Amen. I Lewis Perkins of the County of Dinwiddie being in a low state of health but of sound Memory and Calling to mind that is alotted for all men once to die, do make this my Last Will and Testament Disanulling all former wills do make and ordain this My Last Will and Testament in manner and form as followeth.

First I give my Soul to God who gave it [to] Me and my body to be buried in a decent and Christianlike manner and as to what it hath pleased God to Bless Me with I give and devise in manner and form as followeth -

Item. I give unto My Daughter Polley Hervey Fifty Dollars to be raised out of my Estate after my just Debts are paid; also one red cow and yearling, one chest, to her and her heirs forever.

Item. I give to my son Williamson Grammer Perkins one feather bed, one bed cover, one blanket, two sheets, and the oldest bedquilt, and bedstede [sic] to him and his heirs forever.

Item. I give to my son Lewis Green Perkins one feather bed, blanket, and bed cover, two sheets and the newest bed quilt to him and his heirs forever.

The remainder of my Estate to be Equally Divided between my two sons after my lawfull debts are paid, that is to say Williamson Grammer Perkins and Lewis Green Perkins to them and their heirs forever, and I do nominate John Tucker and my Brother John Perkins Executors to this my Last Will and Testament. In witness wherecf I have hereunto set my hand and seal this second day of January one Thousand Eight Hundred and One.

AMEY WILLS

In the name of God Amen. I Amey Wills of the County of Dinwiddie and Parish of Bath being of sound mind and memory to ordain this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following:

Imprimis. I desire that all my just debts should be paid by my Executors hereafter named.

Item. I give and bequeath to my son-in-law Adam Wells one half of my stocks of Cattle and Hogs to him his heirs forever.

Item. I give and bequeath to my Daughters Katty and Nancy Burrow Wills the other half of my Stocks of Cattle and Hogs, also my stock of Horses, the household and kitchen furniture to be equally divided between them, to them their heirs and assigns forever.

Item. I give and bequeath to my Granddaughters Jinsey Wills and Amy Vaughan the remainder of my estate to be equally divided between them.

Item. I do appoint my son-in-law Adam Wells and my son Abram Vaughan executors to this my Last Will and Testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this twenty-third day of April One Thousand Seven Hundred and Ninety-One.

RACHEL WILLIAMS

In the name of God Amen. I Rachel Williams of Dinwiddie County being in perfect health and sound memory and being sensible, That all persons must depart this life and being desirous at the same time to do something with what worldly things it bath been pleased God to bless me with, do make and ordain this to be my last Will and Testament in manner and form as follows, that is to say -

Item. I lend and bequeath to my beloved Daughter Elizabeth Orders during her natural life the following a articles, that is to say, two Beds, and furniture, one Sorill Horse, four heads of Cattle, two pine Tables, two Chests, two Trunks, two Dishes, two potts, one Iron Skittell, one Brass Morter and Pesell, one Iron Pessell, one Iron Spitt, and six sitting Chairs, and at her death it is my desire that all the above mentioned articles that I have lent my said daughter be equally divided between my Granddaughters, Mary Williams, Anne Lewis, daughters of my son Edward Williams, and my granddaughter Mary Lewis, daughter of my son-in-law, William Lewis, to them and their heirs forever, and lastly I do constitute and appoint my son Edmond Williams, Executor of this my last will and Testament, and at the same time do disanull all other wills heretofore made by me and declaring this to be my last will.

In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this thirtieth day of September in the year of our Lord Christ One Thousand Seven Hundred and Ninety Three.

ROBERT RAVENSCROFT

I Robert Ravenscroft of Petersburg in Virginia being weak in Body, but of sound mind and memory, Do this twenty fourth Day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and seventy Eight, make and ordain this my last Will and Testament in manner following viz -

First, I give and bequeath unto my nephew George Wall eldest son of Burgess Wall, all my wearing apparel.

Secondly, My Will and Desire is that all my Stock, Furniture and the residue and remainder of my Estate whatsoever either real or personal, shall be sold for the most it [will bring] and if anything shall remain after discharging my just debts and funeral expenses, I give and bequeath the same to my said nephew George Wall and his Heirs forever.

And I hereby constitute and appoint my Friend Jerman Baker, Executor of this my last Will and Testament.

In the name of God Amen. I Anna Thomas being well in body and of a sound mind do make my last w 11 on this 6th day of November 1860 revoking all former wills and testaments as follows-

Item. 2nd I give unto my sons John Thomas, Edwin Thomas and Samuel Thomas one dollar a piece, or cash.

Item. 3rd I give unto my three Daughters Rebecca Thomas, Elizabeth Thomas and Martha Thomas my tract of land that I have resided on containing 1071/4 acres as supposed to be and all my household and kitchen furniture and in fact all I may die possessed of in money or anything else, to them and their heirs forever.

!tem, 4th I appoint my friends C. Young and C. W. Young my Executors to carry this will into effect.

In the Name of God Amen. I Willis Vaughn of the County of Dinwiddie being of sound mind and memory do make and ordain this to be my last will and testament in the manner and form following, to wit. Item. I give devise and bequeath to my loving wife Francis Vaughn during her widowhood all of my estate both real and personal and at her Death to be equally divided between my three children to wit, Jerdin J. Vaughn, and Rebecca Vaughn and Robert Vaughn. Lastly I nominate, constitute and appoint my loving wife Francis Vaughn and Freeman Gibbs Executrix and Executor of this my last will and testament expressly devising that no security be required of them, qualifying as such to this my will, and hereby revoking all former wills by me heretofore made. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this Seventh day of July 1819.
