ANN PEGRAM4

Prior to a discussion of Ann Pegram it is noted that DANIEL PEGRAM4, son of Edward Pegram and Mary Scott Baker, was born 25 April 1760. He evidently died in infancy, or at a very young age, since no record of him has been found subsequent to his birth. Furthermore, another son, born in 1767 was also named Daniel, and was the ancestor of a long line of descendants.

ANN PEGRAM4 (Edward3, Daniel2, George1) was the last daughter and tenth child of Edward Pegram and Mary Scott Baker. She was born in Dinwiddie County, Virginia 4 July 1762. She married Thomas Manson, who was probably the brother of Mary Manson who married Major Baker Pegram, Ann's brother. Baker Pegram, it will be recalled, was the Administrator of the estate of John Manson in 1790, probably his father-in-law.

The will of Thomas Manson was made 19 October 1805, and proved in Brunswick County, Virginia Court on 28 April 1806. In the will he named his beloved wife Ann Manson and six children. Thomas Manson appointed Edward Jones Tarpley and Abram Buford, his son-in-law, as Executors. Thomas was apparently a rather wealthy man. His will lists many slaves, land and other property.

Some of the Buford records state that Thomas Manson married Mary Pegram, daughter of Edward3, who was 18 years older than Ann. Thomas Manson's will, carefully examined by the compiler, definitely proves that he married Ann, and not her sister Mary.
