Quarterly Transcription Requests

The USGenWeb Project—and especially our Dinwiddie County site—thrives because of contributions from volunteers like you! One of the most impactful ways you can help is by transcribing and submitting historical records. Local contributions fuel genealogical discovery, preserve our heritage, and ensure that small, often-overlooked records remain accessible for generations. Every quarter, we’ll feature a new transcription theme—a type of record that helps tell the story of Dinwiddie County residents. Whether you have family documents, court abstracts, or cemetery records, we invite you to participate.

2025 Quarterly Transcript Request

July-August 2025: 🪖 Service to County and Country

We're inviting transcriptions of records related to military records from any era that highlight local service—whether in war, militia, or public duty (e.g., draft cards, pension abstracts, enlistments, or home guard lists) that helps us tell a richer Dinwiddie story.

September - December 2025: 🪦 Lives Remembered – From Classroom to Cemetery

For our fall and winter focus, we're seeking transcriptions that highlight the lives, legacies, and learning of Dinwiddie’s residents. This includes school records, cemetery lists, funeral notices, church rolls, and family traditions like weddings or holiday mentions. These records bring personal warmth and depth to the names we find in historical documents by focusing on how we document life’s milestones and memories—from learning to legacy.
