This is the 4th year we will honor Richard Poplar since we acquired his military headstone from the government a few years ago.  We are fortunate by chance, that "his day" falls appropriately within POW/MIA week and we can honor other POWs who sacrificed for us, and honor them on his day.   This is a link of photos from last year's program for your review:     http://www.petersburgexpress.com/Pocahontas.html

Our current Mayor Annie Mickens of Petersburg issued City Proclamation establishing Richard Poplar Day and honoring this Petersburg POW.
