Nannie E. Dalton Martinsville, Henry County VA The funeral for Nannie Edwards Dalton, 80, of Martinsville, who died Friday, Dec. 18, 2009 at her home, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Starling Avenue Baptist Church. Dr. David Adkins will officiate. Burial will be in Roselawn Burial Park. The family will receive friends for one hour before the service at the church Wednesday. She was born in Pittsylvania County on Dec. 19, 1928, to Charles Samuel Edwards Sr. and Sarah Belle Allen Edwards. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter; and a brother, Charles Samuel Edwards Jr. She graduated from Martinsville High School and Perry Business School. She worked for John Richmond in the Martinsville city school system and at Hooker Furniture Co. Dalton was an active member of Starling Avenue Baptist Church, where she worked as assistant treasurer, sang in the choir, served as vacation Bible school director and taught Sunday school. Surviving are her husband, Harry F. Dalton Jr. of the home; two daughters, Leesa D. McGregor and Julie D. Vest, both of Roanoke; one grandson; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
